Notes

  • Fight was originally scheduled for November 15, 1954, but had to be postponed when Walls injured his back during training.
  • The bout ended on an odd note. The announcer Tommy McClure, misunderstanding the scoring system, erroneously annonced that Parker was the winner. Parker was in the dressing room when the announcer conferred with the judges and the referee about the decision. As the crowd milled around the ring Tommy McClure sheepishly announced that the bout was in fact a draw.
  • One judge had Walls the winner, the other Parker and the referee voted for a draw.
  • Walls unexpectedly announced his retirement November 2, 1955
