"Earl Walls, Canadian heavyweight champ, suffered his first defeat since 1951 Tuesday night when he lost a unanimous 10-round decision to 8th-ranked Tommy Harrison of Los Angeles. It was a bruising fight that kept the crowd on its feet at Maple Leaf Gardens. Walls, listed by Ring Magazine as the 5th leading contender, twice got up off the floor after nine-counts in the 4th and 6th rounds to battle Harrison to the final bell. Harrison came out unmarked. Walls suffered a cut around his left eye, two cuts on the bridge of his nose and a mouse under his right eye." -Canadian Press
