  • WBC light middleweight title

"Maurice Hope said Wednesday a 'hometown decision' robbed him of victory Tuesday night in his WBC light-middleweight championship match against Eckhard Dagge, the titleholder from West Berlin. In his second defense of the crown, Dagge, who had a plaster over his right eye for a cut he received in the 15th round, fought a 15 round draw with Hope from Britain, to retain the title. Dagge had some early trouble adjusting his style to his southpaw challenger, but Dagge eventually took command midway through the match. The crowd of 10,000 in West Berlin's Deutschland Halle booed the verdict. The local fans thought Dagge had won." -United Press International

  • Purses: Dagge - $79,166, Hope - $25,000
