Eddie Campi was a 105-lb member of San Francisco's Olympic Club in 1908. [3]

In 1913 he was working daily as an actor for the Kalem Moving Picture Company in Santa Monica, California. [4]

Per the June 20, 1918 Tacoma News Tribune (Tacoma, WA, USA), Campi was accidentally shot in the abdomen as a result of a hunting accident June 18 on his uncle's ranch near Hollister, CA. He died three days later, on June 21. Reportedly (in the Tribune), he was 27-years-old; however record books list his birthday as July 4, 1893, which would make him a few days short of 25. Campi's early record was compiled in detail by Gary Phillips of Yuba City, California, using newspapers from the San Francisco area. His record was published in the Police Gazette Sporting Annual, 1916 edition, and in the revised edition of Ring Battles of Centuries.
