- Date: 1962-06-03
- Location: Olympic Stadium, Stockholm, Sweden
- Referee: Tommy Little
"American light heavyweight contender Eddie Cotton of Seattle defeated his European opponent in Stockholm's Olympic Stadium. 5th-ranked Cotton won a 10 round decision over Pekka Kokkonen of Finland. Although Cotton did not knock out Kokkonen, he was superior to the Finn in every round and gave him a thorough beating. Kokkonen bled from a gash on the left brow and beneath the right eye. Pekka was driven to one knee for a no-count in the 4th by a left hook to the chin but referee Thomas Little did not consider it a knockdown. At the finish, referee Little immediately raised Cotton's arm in victory." United Press International
