"Eddie Machen, veteran heavyweight contender, lost a unanimous 12 round decision Tuesday night to young Henry Clark, California state champ, in the same ring where Machen, 34, made his pro debut in 1955 in Sacramento's Memorial Auditorium. The 22 year old Clark took charge in the 8th round and breezed from there on. There were no knockdowns." -Associated Press

  • Clark was scheduled to fight Henry Cooper in London on April 17th, however, the fight failed to come off. Cooper, instead, fought Boston Jacobs on the date.
