"Eddie Machen, undefeated and explosive-punching San Francisco heavyweight, tonight scored his ninth straight victory by stopping Howard King of Reno in the 10th round of their main event at Richmond Auditorium. Referee Ray Flores stopped the bout in 2:35 of the 10th after King arose groggily from an eight count knockdown. Machen was punching hard all the way and had the Nevadan shaken up several times. He floored King for eight in the 4th round and had his nose bleeding from the 2nd." -United Press
