"Roger Rischer, a 2-1 underdog who weighed 197 1/2 to 196 for Eddie Machen, the 2nd ranked heavyweight contender, scored points here and there with flurries to the body in their fight Monday night. But Machen was the boss when it came to unloading the heavy artillery. In the 4th round he dropped Rischer to one knee with a solid left hook to the body. Rischer bounced up before a count could be started and was closing strongly at the bell. But Rischer began to fade in the 6th when Machen rocked him with two rights to the head." -United Press International
