"State middleweight champion Ferd Hernandez and Eddie Pace of Los Angeles fought to a 10 round draw last night in the main event at the Hacienda Hotel. The bout was a slugfest all the way with first Pace and then Hernandez taking control. There were no knockdowns in the fast-paced bout, although each fighter hit the other with his best punches. Hernandez suffered a cut on his left eyelid after the 6th round which the doctor examined following each round. Pace came in with a bad eye that was injured in the Freddie Little bout and began to swell in the 1st round. Hernandez then opened a cut over Pace's eye in the 9th round." -Las Vegas SUN

- "I thought I had a slight edge, but the decision was just. I felt my legs wobble in the 9th round and I couldn't believe it." -Ferd Hernandez
