"Former two-time junior welterweight champion Eddie Perkins, Chicago, scored a majority 10 round decision Monday night over Adolph Pruitt, Los Angeles, in the bitterly contested main event at the Silver Slipper Ballroom. Perkins pulled the fight out in the final two rounds as Pruitt seemed to tire under the fast pace. There were no knockdowns in the fight, but Perkins was bleeding from the nose and mouth at the finish and Pruitt was staggered several times in the final six minutes." -United Press International

• In the AP report of the same fight, it was stated that it was Pruitt, not Perkins, bleeding from the nose and mouth.
• The winner of this bout had a tentative agreement to meet California recognised world welterweight champion Charlie Shipes of Oakland. However, ironically, Perkins and Pruitt rematched instead on the same day as Shipes' unification title match with Curtis Cokes.
