"A hard fought, bloody junior welterweight bout ended with Eddie Perkins, 140 1/2, Chicago, winning a unanimous decision over Adolph Pruitt, 139, Los Angeles, at the Silver Slipper Ballroom. There were no knockdowns during the 10 round battle, but by the time it was over Pruitt's face was covered with blood. Perkins opened a cut over his opponent's left eye in the 2nd round and Pruitt also suffered a gash over his right eye in the 5th which became worse as the fight wore on." -United Press International
