"Lightweight contender Eddie Perkins of Chicago was an easy winner over Chico Santos, former Portugese lightweight champion, in a dull 10 round boxing match at Sacramento Municipal Auditorium Friday night. There were no knockdowns, and only the final round furnished any action, as Perkins spent most of the fight chasing Santos around the ring. Perkins cut his opponent over both eyes slightly, and Santos didn't come to life until the 10th, when he stung Perkins with a right. But Perkins reacted with a volley of rights and lefts to send his opponent to cover again." -Associated Press
