"Former two-time world junior welterweight champion Eddie Perkins of Chicago relied heavily on jolting lefts and short right uppercuts to score a unanimous 10 round decision last night over Paulie Armstead at the Silver Slipper Ballroom. Both contenders for the 140 pound title showed plenty of respect for each other. There were no knockdowns, but Armstead, Los Angeles, bled from the nose from the 3rd round on and finished with a welt under his right eye." -United Press International
