From the back of a Mecca cigarette card, the front side of which showed Eddie Walsh (the image here): "EDDIE WALSH (the Harlem bricklayer), the featherweight, was born in New York in 1887. In 1907 he won the 125-pound amateur championship by defeating three men, and won the intercity championship in Boston by defeating Moxie Fitzpatrick. He also won the national amateur championship by defeating four contestants in 1907."
Walsh's professional career seems to have been a short one, and today he is little remembered. He fought as a lightweight and only 14 fights are known. However, he is supposed to have had additional fights with Emergency Kelly and Young Britt.
