"Shig Fukuyama of Japan, almost upset the gang when he had Eder Jofre on the receiving end in the 6th round of their featherweight fight. Jofre, who started well with jabs and hooks, suddenly stepped on a mine, a left hook to the liver. Fukuyama directly forced him against the ropes and banged away, when, as a gift from heaven to Jofre, the referee stepped in and halted matters to tell the Japanese not to use his head.
