"Although gashed over both eyes, Argentina's Eduardo Lausse hammered out a unanimous 10-round decision over durable ralph Jones to run his winning streak to 28 at MSG Friday night. It was a rousing fight from the opening bell. The South American boosted his chances for a title shot at champion Bobo Olson with his blistering punching and courageous display in the final rounds as blood almost completely obscured his vision. The Argentine was cut slightly over his left eye in the 2nd round. But in the 7th the invader came out of a head collision with a deep, long cut over his left eye and a jagged cut over his right orb. Blood gushed from all three cuts and Lausse's face was covered with blood. That seemed to inspire him for he tore after his rival and poured on a stream of left hooks to the chin that shook up the New Yorker." -Associated Press
