Efren Torres 112 lbs lost to Hiroyuki Ebihara 112 lbs by SD in round 12 of 12

A riot broke out when the decision went against local favorite Torres. Over $150,000 in damage was done to the Olympic Auditorium, in the riot.

"Hiroyuki Ebihara of Japan won a split 12 round decision over Alacron Torres of Mexico Thursday night, touching off a 45 minute riot that left the Olympic Auditorium in shambles. Ebihara was definitely the faster, smoother and sharper puncher of the two but he ran into severe trouble in the middle rounds with the heavier-hitting Torres' vicious body attacks. Torres, though rarely effective with his head shots, called the turn of the fight in the 9th round when he opened a gash over Ebihara's left eye with a left hook, right cross combination. He widened the gash in mid-round by pushing Ebihara's face against the ropes, resulting in a flowing cut." -Long Beach Press-Telegram
