"4th ranked flyweight contender Efren (Alacran) Torres, 114, of Guadalajara, climbed off the canvas Friday to knock out Luis (Zorrito) Gonzalez, 110 1/2, of Mexico City, in the 7th round of the 22nd annual Fight for Lives at the Olympic Auditorium. Torres had dropped Gonzalez twice in the 3rd round and appeared to be enroute to an easy victory when Gonzalez floored him with a right to the head in the 6th. The two youthful boxers battled toe-to-toe and took turns rocking each other in the 7th until Torres dumped Gonzalez with a right to the chin. Gonzalez arose but was dropped flat on his back and referee John Thomas called a halt without a count at 2:01 of the round." -Pasadena Star-News
