  • NABO Light Heavyweight Title (3rd defense by Alvarez)
  • NABA Light Heavyweight Title (1st defense by Poulard)

Summary

Undefeated light heavyweight Eleider Alvarez (12-0, 8 KO) retains his NABO title while gaining the NABA belt after his third round TKO victory against former sparring partner Nicholson Poulard (19-4, 9 KO) in the co-feature event of Adonis Stevenson versus Darnell Boone II at the Bell Center in Montreal, Canada.

Eleider Alvarez is one-step closer to an eventual world title match as he defeats the veteran Poulard with a devastating TKO in the NABA-NABO unification match.

The supposed ten-round bout started out slow as both fighters appear to size each other up during the first round with very few punches being thrown around. Alvarez seems to need another round though as tries to establish his dominance in the second round with jabs which Poulard countered quite effectively.

By the third round, Alvarez showed the power hiding behind his right as he pinned the hapless Poulard against the ropes with a combination. Poulard collapsed to the canvas though he managed to get feebly up on his feet. It was not enough to convince referee Marlon Wright, who waved off the fight at the 2:08 mark in the third.
