Emil Schock was the twin brother of boxer Arthur Schock and brother of boxer Paul Schock. Both Art and Emil became boxing referees. Other siblings included Oscar, Alfred, and sister Mrs. Boerner

Emil died Saturday, July 26, 1919, of apoplexy (TB) at his home at 412 South 32nd, Tacoma. He was interred in the Tacoma Cemetery.
