Ernie Peters was Bantamweight southpaw, Native-American Indian boxer born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1913. His family later moved to Chicago, where Ernie began boxing and had a very successful and noted amateur career before turning pro in 1925. Beginning in the Flyweight division, and finishing his career closer to Welterweight, Peters fought numerous contenders in a handful of weight classes. He later boxed out of Reno, Nevada and called it home for many years before moving back home to Minnesota in 1940, where he raised his family in the Morton/Redwood Falls area where he died young of a heart attack. Peters last worked as a cattle truck driver.
For years, there were two Ernie Peters listed on boxrec, most likely due to his long career stationed in so many cities (Chicago, Los Angeles, Reno, Minneapolis), but they are one and the same person.
