Ernie Petrone 140 lbs beat Clarence King 142 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10

  • Date: 1946-01-11
  • Location: Legion Arena, West Palm Beach, Florida, USA

  • Clarence King fought a waiting fight and it was not until the 10th that he became aggressive and that was when he looked the best of the night. Several rights in that round appeared to hurt Petrone.

The scorecard showed Petrone with five rounds and four were called draws.

Petrone moved to the front right at the start when he rocked King's head back with a hard left and then followed up with rights and lefts. King took an early lead in the second round, but Petrone evened it up for a draw. Single blows to the head and stomach earned the third for Petrone but it was called a draw. The next three went to Petrone, the seventh and eighth were draws and Petrone came back to grab the ninth.
