Ernst Chervet was born on 27 September 1940 in Berne. He was the Swiss amateur featherweight champion (up to 57 kg) four times 1959, 1960, 1961 and 1963. Chervet participated as a featherweight in the 1960 Rome Olympics, but lost in the quarterfinals to silver medal winner Jerzy Adamskile ( Poland ). He competed at featherweight in the European championship (in Luzern , 1959), but lost in the second round to the later bronze winner Orhan Tusile ( Turkey ). At the 15th European Championships ( Moscow , 1963) he lost in the first round to the subsequent winner of the bronze medal Andrei Olteanule (Romania). His brothers Paul, Fritz and Walter Chervet as well as his son Alain Chervet were well-known Swiss boxers. He died on October 5 2016.
