"WBC lightweight champion Esteban DeJesus scored a 7th round knockout Friday night in his first title defense. The previously unbeaten challenger was on the defensive in the first five rounds but managed to open a cut under the left eye of DeJesus with left jabs. In the 6th round, Medina abandoned his circling tactics and traded punches with the champion, but DeJesus stopped him cold with right leads and left the challenger groggy at the bell. The champion, who punished the challenger from the opening round with overhand rights, trapped Medina against the ropes and pounded him for 30 seconds with combinations of lefts and rights that dropped him to the canvas at 1:45 of the 7th round." -United Press International
