"Eugene 'Cyclone' Hart doesn't often see his fights go the distance, but his 10-round decision Friday night over Sugar Ray Seales was no disappointment for the Philadelphian. Hart pounded Seales of Tacoma, Wash., relentlessly throughout the nationally televised bout. There were no knockdowns in this fight, but Hart landed a left hook in the 2nd round that nearly sent the fans in Convention Hall home early. A woozy Seales leaned over and clung to Hart's thighs as Hart tried to finish him off. From then on, Hart was the whole show as he pursued Seales and gave him no room to box. Hart opened three cuts on Seales' face and sent the loser afterwards to a hospital for stitches. Seales had few chances to show his boxing skills, but Hart tired in the later rounds and failed to deck Seales with combinations he delivered from close range." -Associated Press

  • The purses were not disclosed, but Seales stated before the fight he was promised $5,000 win or lose.

Post-fight comment
