Eugene Hart 155 lbs beat Vernon Mason 146 lbs by KO in round 3 of 8
- Date: 1970-04-07
- Location: Blue Horizon, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
- Referee: Tommy Reid
"Unbeaten Eugene (Cyclone) Hart stopped Baltimore's Vernon Mason at the Blue Horizon in Vernon's first feature bout. The knockout, 9th straight for the Philadelphian, came after the bell rang ending the 2nd round. Hart, 155, and Mason, 146, were exchanging punches in a corner and continued swinging after the bell had rung. Referee Tom Reed was too slow in separating them. Hart uncorked a left hook that hit the Baltimore boxer on the chin and knocked him flat on his back. It was the first time Mason was knocked out." -Ring Magazine, July, 1970 issue
