"Ezzard Charles moved a little further on the comeback trail toward another heavyweight title chance Thursday night, but handlers of Paul Andrews charged that the win resulted only from a low blow and faulty scoring by a fight judge. Charles won a split decision over Andrews in the Chicago Stadium televised fight. But Andrews scored the only knockdown of the fight, putting Charles on the canvas for the compulsory eight-count in the 2nd round. Andrews had Charles in trouble in the first three rounds and Charles got the victory only because he fought out of a crouch thereafter, working inside on the body expertly and kept Andrews confused with his attack, shifting occasionally to the head. Then in the 10th round Charles landed a punch to Andrews' stomach which sent him doubled up against the ropes. Even though Charles won, the victory wasn't impressive." -United Press
