Sakkreerin was due to fight Zolani Marali for the IBO junior featherweight title but Sakkreenin attempted to avoid giving a blood sample to the doctor for analysis. He had tried to get his manager to give a blood sample in his stead and then came up with the excuse that he could not give blood because of his superstitions. Sakkreerin finally admitted that he had hepatitis B, despite being in possession of medical documents from Thailand giving him a clean bill of health.
