"Unheralded Felipe Torres scored an upset KO over 6th rated featherweight Bobby Valdez at the Coliseum. The fight was fairly even for the first four rounds but in the 5th Valdez was caught with a straight right to the chin sending him to the canvas. Valdez got up and was decked again but managed to weather out the round. Referee Hal Rickards stopped the bout after 38 seconds of the 6th when Valdez failed to recover from the previous round's action." -United Press International
