"Felipe Torres, 137, of Los Angeles, shook off an eye cut to knock out Cesar Sinda, 133, of the Congo in a scheduled 12 round bout at the Long Beach Auditorium. Torres was cut under the left eye in the 5th round of the close bout, but fought back and finally floored Sinda for the count in the final 13 seconds of the 10th round with a left to the body and a right to the head." -Long Beach Press-Telegram

  • This bout was originally scheduled to contest the vacant state lightweight title. However, Torres weighed in 2 pounds overweight. Thus, the title was not at stake.
