Battalino hurt Miller with a right hand to the jaw in the opening round, that had Miller out on his feet. Miller did not appear to recover from the blow, as Battalino had little difficulty getting through Miller's left hand, where he worked his body heavily. Miller continued to put up a good fight, until the body work began to show in the 8th round. Battalino would score two nine-count knockdowns in the 9th.
The first knockdown came, when Battalino hurt Miller with a right to the jaw, and then as Miller attempted to clinch, he landed a right hand to the stomach that dropped him. Battalino drove Miller around the ring upon rising, and downed him with a series of blows. Miller clinched heavily over the last two rounds, to evade the knockout.
Battalino finished with a slightly swollen right eye, Miller finished with cuts along the right eye and left cheek. Miller also bled from the nose, and had swollen lips.
