Stribling's second KO of Al Nelson on the night. During the first fight Stribling shoved Nelson on a break, Nelson fell back to the ropes and took the full count without offering a return to combat. Referee Kaliska raised Stribling's hand but the crowd raised a howl and Nelson's seconds revived him. The promoters, fighters, and managers then consulted and agreed to go on again. Twenty minutes after the first fight had ended the two re-entered the ring where Nelson was knocked out for the second time in the second round. The southern middleweight title was won based on the first fight as the referee and judges ruled that no foul was commited and Stribling would be the champ reguardless of the second outcome (Atlanta Constitution 05-18-1923).
