Rocky Luciano Is In Line To Box Rangel June 26th

Rocky Luciano, Italian middle weight boxer formerly of Harrisburg, Pa., will fight Sheik Rangel of Fresno, in the latter's first comeback scrap in Ryan's Auditorium June 26th provided the army dischargee can make the weight limit of 154 pounds.

Luciano, discharged from the army two months ago after combat action in the South Pacific, has agreed to the fight through his manager, Gene Haularls Watsonville, restaurateur. The weight matter is something to be settled before contracts are actually signed.

The record books show Luciano started fighting in 1940 and he had about 55 fights in Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland before he went into the service in the Summer of 1943. He has had two fights since his discharge, beating Top Row Allen and getting a draw with Speedy Cannon, both bouts being held in San Jose. He is a husky lad built along the same lines as Rangel.

Rangel is working out daily and putting in hard training licks to put up as good as fight as capable. He has not boxed since early in the year.
