Peppin swarmed all over Coleman in the first two round, before he was dropped hard by a short right hand in the 3rd round for a nine-count. Peppin recovered to win the 4th round, but was sent down three times in the 5th round. The referee appeared to be on the verge of stopping the bout, but let Peppin continue after he pleaded to continue on. Coleman would knock Peppin down in the 8th round, and dropped him again in the 10th round, when the bout was stopped.
