Was advertised for colored lightweight title, but both were overweight. Over 7500 fans, an overflow crowd, jammed the Coliseum Arena and others were turned away to see this contest. According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Farrell won the first three rounds, but none after that as Williams was too clever and fast for Farrell. Farrell was cut under his left eye in the 7th round, and was unable to land a hard right hand that he had in the first three rounds.

On the official scorecards Farrell's winning rounds came in the first three, while two judges had the 2nd, 6th, and 10th rounds even.
