Jim Kelly beat Pee Wee Jarrell by RTD in round 7 of 10

Kelly knocked Jarrell down in the 3rd round for a short count, and again in the 6th round. In the 7th round, Kelly floored Jarrell with a hard left to the side of the jaw for nine. Jarrell was out on his feet after this, until Kelly caught him along the ropes at the end of the round, and held him with his right hand, while shooting a left hand that floored Jarrell at the bell. Jarrell's corner was unable to revive him for the 8th round. Jarrell did little of his customary talking in the bout, though the Dayton Daily News had it even in rounds 3-3-1 at the time of the stoppage.
