Miceli hurt Smith with a left hook in the 1st round, from which Smith appeared unable to recover. Smith's speed and timing were off thereafter. In the 5th round, Smith appeared to be making a stand, when a picture perfect left hook to the jaw floored Smith. Smith attempted to reach his feet, but was unable to beat the count.
