Moore knocked Burgin down in the 2nd round for a three-count just before the bell. Burgin's best moments were in the 3rd and 4th round, especially the 4th when he rocked Moore and knocked his mouthpiece out. Burgin attempted to press Moore again in the 5th round, but Moore's superior boxing skills allowed him to set the distance for a right uppercut that stunned Burgin at the end of the round. Moore was in control after that as Burgin absorbed punishment the rest of the way. By the end Burgin's left eye was almost closed. Moore nailed him with right hooks in the 9th that sent Burgin sagging to the canvas along the ropes. The referee began the count, but instead opted to stop the bout.
