Oakland Tribune(Art Cohn)--"Latka won two of ten rounds...which apparently in Referee Irwin's case is enough for any hometown boy to deserve no worse than a standoff. Certainly the draw verdict astounded me." San Francisco Examiner(11/6/40): "We'd like to think San Francisco was above so yokelish a device as the "hometown decision," but apparently it isn't.
