This was a close bout, with Nute having an edge of 5-4-1 in rounds, as he used a southpaw attack to overcome the hard right hand punching of Scott. Wildcat Monte who was in Scott's corner protested the decision and went after referee Billy Murray, a former boxer, who hit Monte with a right to the jaw. Monte retaliated, before the two were separated.
