Pace, the NBA Bantamweight Champion, knocked out Docherty at 1:34 of the first round. But Col. Alfred Ballin, chairman of the city boxing commission, suggested to Tom Stanley, Pace's manager, that the fight be resumed to give the customer "a run for their money."
