Ceferino Garcia 146 lbs lost to Bep van Klaveren 147 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10
- Date: 1934-12-07
- Location: Legion Stadium, Hollywood, California, USA
- Referee: George Blake
"Jimmy McLarnin, welterweight champion of the world, must have seen a pretty good contender for his crown last night as he sat in a third row seat at the Hollywood Legion stadium. The gentleman in question was Bep Van Klaveren, Holland's contribution to the fistic art. McLarnin must have been quite interested as he watched Van Klaveren outpoint Ceferino Garcia before a packed house while the crowd marveled at the speed, grace and boxing ability of the Dutchman. And if McLarnin is looking for a worthy opponent in the near future, Van Klaveren is the man. Or so he appeared last night. It was a clear cut victory for the boy from the country of dykes. There was absolutely no doubt of Van Klaveren's superiority last night. A stinging left jab and brilliant infighting made awarding the decision little trouble for George Blake. At no time was Garcia in the running with the possible exception of the last two rounds." (Evening Post)
