Bout Summary
Both boxers sustained cuts by their left eyes from a head clash in the second round. Wilson scored a knockdown in the final seconds of the third round with a short left hook. A brutal fourth round saw Wilson bleeding from his eye cut. Nwodo complained of a problem with his vision during the rest period before the fifth round started. Wilson scored another knockdown two minutes into the tenth round with a right uppercut. Nwodo was getting punished from the middle of the 11th round by a chasing Wilson before getting knocked out by a massive left hook at 2:00 of the round. (ESPN commentators stated near the end of the program that this was probably the greatest knockout in the 10-year history of the "Friday Night Fights" series.) When Nwodo eventually arose from the canvas and was seated upon his stool many minutes after the KO, he received warm applause from the concerned crowd.
