Larkin was a decisive winner, according to the Newark Evening News. Cochrane normally a fast starter did not get off to a quick start against Larkin, the bout was fairly even in the first six rounds, but Larkin swept the remaining rounds. Larkin finished the bout with a cut over his left eye, while Cochrane had a gash on his forehead, which bled heavily from the 10th round on.
