Cochrane got off to a fast start with two handed punching to the body in the first two rounds. Beauhuld rallied and had his best round in the 4th round, when he battered him in a neutral corner. The 5th and 6th rounds were slow, as the two recovered. Beauhuld would take three of the last four rounds, as he used varied tactics to outwork Cochrane. Cochrane knocked Beauhuld down for no-count in the 10th round, but Beahuld rallied so strongly that the Newark Evening News' gave him the last round.
