Moro built up an early lead in the first three rounds, as Morgan showed very little, before beginning to fade in the 5th round. Morgan cut Moro over the left eye in the 9th round, from what appeared to be a butt. The Honolulu Advertiser felt the bout was close, and scored it 5-4-1 for Moro. Moro's best round was the 6th round, according to the Advertiser.
