Medrano gave a poor performance, with the referee contemplating ruling a no-contest after two rounds. In the 3rd round, Takeshita landed a counter right to the chin that dropped Medrano for nine. Takeshita then drove Medrano to the ropes, and put him down for the count, with a right to the back of the neck.
