- Referee McCarty stopped the bout midway through the third round after Dundee, the former Middleweight Champion of the World, had been knocked down eleven times. Dundee hadn't landed a single effective blow. He sustained a slight concussion and a broken jaw on the left side, between the second and third molars, clear through. He was taken to Seattle's Providence Hospital, where he recuperated about a week. Doctors advised him not to fight for three months or longer. With some 140-plus documented bouts to his credit by this date, this was Dundee's first loss by knockout.

Ten thousand fans saw the Tacoma boy knock Dundee down 10 times in three rounds." -United Press.
- There was a pre-fight agreement by the commission and the two camps, to not stop the fight, unless a signal was given by the corner's chief second. Referee McCarty defied the order and stopped the bout anyway as Dundee had taken a horrific beating.
