Angott knocked West down in the 8th round with a left, that sent him spinning to the canvas, off balance; West was up without a count. Angott led through the early rounds of the bout, as he was able to stymie West. West rallied starting in the 6th round, and sustained that momentum with the exception of the time of the 8th round knockdown. The decision was unpopular with the majority of the fans, according to the Baltimore Sun.
