Steele hurt Chong with a left hand in the last minute of the 4th round, and proceeded to batter Chong over the remainder of the round. The two traded in the 5th round, until there were ten seconds remaining in the round and Steele landed a left hand to the solar plexus that sent Chong to the canvas. In bad shape, Chong barely beat the count as the round ended. In the 6th, Steele continued to dish a beating on Chong, and dropped him in a neutral corner, though the referee ruled it a slip. He later went down a second time without being hit, appearing exhausted in mid-ring, and the bout was stopped by the referee.
